SCBR Week 2/Day 4 Food/Exercise Journal

8:15 am – BB Coffee – Awake

Hubby and I woke up around 5:30 pm to a hacking sound, which turned out to be Bailey ready to spit up just a little…twice. Poor little guy! I wasn’t mad, but I was sleeping really good he woke us…drats! I contemplated just staying awake, but I went back to bed for a little, till the alarm went off. Hubby made coffee this AM – the usual – FM Breakfast Blend with sugar and 2% milk.

9:45 am – Banana, Walnut, + Brown Sugar Oatmeal – Satisfied

Packing for the day was easy since I already had breakfast packed from yesterday. I didn’t eat it yesterday since I was trying to “fast.” Today, I was ready to eat my yummy oatmeal concoction.

Pre-cooking ingredients:

  • 1/4 1-minute quick cooking quaker oats
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp flax seed
  • 1 tsp brown sugar

Post-cooking:

  • Stir in 1 tbsp of milk
  • Stir in sliced banana
  • Top with walnuts (about 2 tbsp)

Breakfast was soooo good!

I’m feeling much better today – a “hint of offness” is lingering still. I am shrugging off the “bad feelings.” At this point, I don’t think it’s something that’s going to progress into something worse, so I’ll put it out of my mind as best I can hoping I’ll forget and it will go away. I think I’m almost there anyways. 🙂

12:45 pm – Breakfast for Lunch – Satisfied

I actually packed leftover capellini pomodoro for lunch today, but when some co-workers invited me to join them for lunch, I took them up on the offer. It’s good to be social, so I try to eat out with co-workers/friends at least once a week (hopefully, no more than twice).

My mind was set on the breakfast special (1/2 chicken salad sammy + soup of the day), but when 2 other co-workers started talking about breakfast, I started leaning that way. Torn between the two, I asked the waitress which she liked better and she said pancakes. I always leave tough decisions like this up to the waiters/waitresses, but only when I know I’ll be equally (or mostly) happy with either option. It’s sort of my way to “toss the coin.”

I got the short stack, which came with 2 gigantic pancakes and 4 slices of bacon. Now, I know myself enough to know when I’m not going to finish something and when I’m probably not going to want the leftovers, so I gave a co-worker who was extra hungry about 1/3 of my pancakes and 2 slices of bacon. I got a small piece of his omelette in return. He actually tried to offer me twice as much omelette as pictured, but I knew I wouldn’t finish it. Even after downsizing my plate, I still couldn’t finish the last couple bites of my pancake. But, I did pretty good eating what I could.

I also had a regular cup of coffee with 2 packets of sugar and 2 of those mini-creamers.

2:30 pm – Green Tea – Satisfied

Over the afternoon, I worked on my liquid intake – lots of water and a nice, big, hot mug of green tea. This is Equal Exchange Organic Green Tea from my MIL.

4:00 pm – Pure Chocolate Brownie Bar – Satisfied

As the day started winding down, it was becoming apparent to me that I’d need a snack before leaving work. I dug through my health bar stash and selected the Pure Chocolate Brownie bar, since chocolate was sounding mighty tasty.

The Pure CB bar did not disappoint. The texture reminded me of a nutty brownie and really did taste almost brownie-like. At first, I won’t lie, I tasted more date than chocolate. Well, it tasted like a slightly fruity fudge brownie. But, the more I ate it, the less I tasted the date. I enjoyed the not-too sweet taste and chewy, crunchy texture. I will definitely be getting more of these, if not a box.

6:00 pm – Bar Food – Heavy But Satisfied

One of our co-workers was in town all the way from NY, so a group of us went out after work for drinks. Everyone ordered beers and bar food apps. I had a glass of pinot grigio (which I forgot to photograph!) and a handful of apps: 1 slider, about 5 nacho chips with cheese and black beans, and a cheese stick with a little marinara sauce.

When a second round of apps came around, I couldn’t help grabbing another cheese stick. I love these things!

The bar foods were a bit heavy on my tummy, but I like to indulge now and again.

8:30 pm – Pizza + Coke – Satisfied

Dinner was pretty unhealthy, too. Hubby wanted pizza to eat while watching the Duke/Carolina game. I had one slice of pepperoni…

…and a tiny glass of Coke – about 3/4 cup.

I intended to have some fruit after dinner, but never quite got around to it. Ah well, I’m ready for bed anyways. G’night!
