Layers of Flavor

Hey friends, totally meant to blog last night, but I was zonked! I think I wear myself out every week and try to do all my catching up on the weekends. Not the right thing to do, but it happens.

Anywho, Dad had dinner under control last night. When I went downstairs, he had 4 burners going and the whole meal planned out.

We used some spinach penne I picked out earlier from our grocery shopping at Whole Foods. We almost got fresh spinach fettuccine but upon checking the ingredient lists, Dad said the dry was better because the fresh used egg yolks (which he’s trying to avoid for his health).

Bailey wanted to stay in the action in the kitchen while we cooked and prepped dinner.

Cooked pasta – isn’t it pretty? I love the green color! Fear not non-veggie eaters, this stuff tastes just like regular pasta.

I got ready to layer my dinner with all the various flavors:

Start with spinach penne pasta

Add sauce

Add chicken

Add mushrooms (yes, mushrooms! can you believe I willingly put those on my plate?)

Add broccoli

Top with fresh-grated cheese

…and parsley

Voila! Dinner is served!

Sis came home from dance classes with hot Krispy Kreme donuts.

I know these things are terrible for you, but I couldn’t resist having a couple.

A hot, fresh glazed donut and an Oatmeal Butterscotch cookie (brought some of these with us for the trip to share)

My sister was a scrapbooking machine all night.

I inevitably was sucked into helping her, but it was for a good cause and she needed to finish it Friday night in time to drop the scrapbook off Saturday.  I only had to cut a few photo borders…no biggee.

I snipped photo borders and enjoyed a second donut whilst watching Enchanted. How cute was that movie?  Guess I’m just a fan of all things Disney being a theme-park-baby and all.
