Neighborly Cookout

I had a pretty productive afternoon Saturday.

I got caught up working on some stuff on my computer, so lunch was pretty lame – leftover mac and cheese and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies from the other day.

I worked on a fabric project in the afternoon. I thought I’d be able to complete said project pretty quickly, but it ended up taking me twice as long as I expected!

Mums the word on this project for now. More to come. 😉

Hubby and I were invited to a neighbor’s birthday cookout. Our first neighborly event…yay! 🙂

We brought some Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and Carolina Pale Ale.

There were tons of fun people there and even some adorable babies and toddlers.

It seems like the last several months of get-togethers have mostly been with my foodie friends, where food photography is the norm. Last night, I was the only one interested in taking pictures of my food, but I went ahead and took a handful of photos.

I snacked on some pimento cheese from Earthfare (my fave grocery store!)

There were tons of great eats! There were plenty of snacks in addition to the main eats: Homemade burgers, cole slaw, baked beans.

I had a little bit of everything.

I added some tater tots when those came out of the oven.

Ahhh….my fave….birthday cake!

My neighbor made this cake with her mother’s recipe for Dark Chocolate Cake. Yum! Aren’t family recipes the best?

Drink of choice – Carolina Pale Ale…in a sparkly red coozie no less!

We had some recorded skits, football, basketball, and a recording on how marbles are made from Dirty Jobs for entertainment.

I may or may not have hit up the snack bowls/dips/chips and birthday cake. 😉

Post party, we all headed out to a local bar where I stayed up waaaay too late. But we had a good time, so it was totally worth it!

Cheers to new friends!
