That's chrysanthemum tea! Definitely a childhood favorite of mine!

As for the paper, it's play money that you feed to the lion who in return will grant you good fortune for the new year. Sometimes you'll also see bystanders (or the performers themselves) feed the lion lettuce, which in Chinese sounds the same as 'fortune'. It's good luck!

Happy New Year!

I've never had dim sum but it looks tasty. Love the looks of those sesame balls. When we used to live near San Francisco, I loved going into the city for the China's New Year parade!! Great purchases. Hope your week treats you well

Haooy New Years!! What a coincidence! We had Dim Sum today too. We were going to go to Chinatown in NYC to watch the festivities but decided not to because it was too cold. We went for Dim Sum and I wanted the Chinese broccoli but was too full to order it! Plus they had no more sesame balls for dessert. We had congee and sticky rice, steamed shrimp shumai and some other things. My favorite is the sweet bean buns but they didn't have them. I love Chinese New Year!!

I've only had dim sum once and my favorite was the steamed shrimp ball thingies. I also like the sticky rice. And it was good tea. Sesame balls = gross. The pork sticky buns were good. We also got some pastry sort of thing filled with pork that was not as good.
