Layers of Sugar

There are many “bad” eating habits that I’ve been able to conquer:

  • Soda
  • Bagels + Cream Cheese (eaten almost every day)
  • Fast Food
  • Fried Food
  • Late Night Snacking
  • Processed Foods

But there is at least one major one that remains…

Sweets.

Just look at those layers of sugar!

While I feel that at least consuming real sugars like I do (NOT aspartame, sucralose and other faux sweeteners I kindly refer to as “rat poison”), sugar in excess is not a good thing. I recognize this. But…I’m not quite ready to change my habits. I think part of the way to conquer “bad” eating habits is being in the right frame of mind…and I’m just not quite ready to let go of my sugar habit. I feel myself leaning that way, but I’m not sold 100%.

So until then, I’ll continue to splurge a bit…

Breakfast = fried cage-free egg and half a cinnamon roll.

Lunch was a veggie sammie topped with a quick cumin/turmeric/yogurt sauce with a dash of garlic powder and some fresh parsley from my garden.

I put the sauce on top of a Sunshine falafel burger on Dakota toast

With a side of cherry tomatoes from my garden.

And I split some instant Annie’s mac and cheese with hubby.

I’m going to a childhood friend’s wedding tonight! So excited! 🙂

Would anyone be interested in blog posts on how I conquered my bad eating habits? I’d be happy to talk to any of the points above. I’ve already received a request for how-to-kick-the-soda-habit. 🙂

  1. okay, hold it– There are falafel burgers that I’m not aware of?! I thought these only existed at one of my favorite cafes?! Can you buy them at a store?! where, where?! You must tell me!

Also, I’d definitely be interested to know how you kicked a soda habit… fountain sodas are pretty much like coffee to me.

  2. I could never give up sweets either… or I can’t even think about my life without them. Maybe one day I just want crave sweets anymore? But, until that day I am happy to oblige 🙂

I would love to hear about how you kicked the late night snacking habit. I have the same problem about once a week or so.

  3. I have such a sweet tooth too – I know it’s not a great habit, but I also know that I take care of myself well enough that the indulgences are all good in my book 🙂

I’d love to hear about how you kicked bad habits!

  4. Yes! I go for weeks without a soda, and then the evil temptation returns, and I just can’t seem to quit for good. Sweets are also a weakness for me, but I do not think I will ever want to give those up completely, so I just go for moderation with them. Fast food does not tempt me at all, so that is one strength that I have.

  6. I would love to hear how you kicked the late night snacking. I never was one to eat late at night and then I got married and my husband is a HUGE late night eater and I eventually joined him. His metabolism is so high he can eat like he does and not gain a pound. While me on the other hand..not so much! 🙂

  7. That cinnamon rolls looks amazing! I definitely wouldn’t consider it “bad” though. Doesn’t cinnamon have several health benefits?! 🙂 I think we’re supposed to get at least 1 teaspoon a day. Just think, you were getting your daily does of healthy cinnamon!!

  10. I’d like to hear how you kicked your habits. I could give up all soda except for root beer. I can’t live without root beer. It fixes everything 🙂
