Nutella Swirl Oatmeal {Get-Out-of-Bed Inspiration}

Lately, I’ve been uninspired to get out of bed in the morning. Why? I’m going to be honest with you. Work is kicking my a$$ and stressing me out big time. And if you’re in the same boat, I have a breakfast idea that may help make you ready to take on the day.

Nutella Swirl Oatmeal

I normally don’t like talking about work on my blog, but you know what? If any of my co-workers were actually reading this, I think they’d be nodding their head and saying, “I hear ya, girl! Me too!” Our current work environment is very stressful and picking up stream. But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel when our current project gets released in just a few short weeks. And then, we can all be normal again.

So, what do you do when you aren’t quite ready to face the day? Find something to help get you going. May I present…

This is really so simple to make.

Here’s my Non-Recipe for Nutella Swirl Oatmeal:

Start by making your choice of oatmeal. I prefer making stove top oats (click here to learn how to cook oatmeal this way). The bowl pictured is made with a spoonful of canned pumpkin. Take however much Nutella you feel like eating (I used about 1 tablespoon), and put it in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the Nutella until it becomes soft and easy to pour (15-30 seconds should do it). Use two spoons to scoop and pour the Nutella into a swirl design (or carefully pour the Nutella straight from the bowl). Top with your favorite toppings. Enjoy.

I’m really loving this idea of finding a reason to get out of bed when you’re otherwise uninspired. I think I’ll have to brainstorm some more ideas like this one!

  1. A Nutella & peanut butter combo is by far my favorite oatmeal topping. I rarely buy Nutella though because the whole jar is usually gone within 3 days because I get so obsessed. To help myself get up & going, the night before I’ll think of one thing I’m really excited about for the next day (seeing someone, a manicure, watching a great movie, etc.). It can be a little, simple thing but it helps me be a little more excited for the next day!

  2. That nutella swirl looks so good!
    Mostly, and I’m kinda embarrassed to admit this, but on days I know will be stressful (or the morning after a day like that) just the beep from the coffee machine can get me up out of bed. Just giving myself 5 minutes to sit quietly and sip, knowing it’s the only quiet I’ll have for hours, feels like the best thing I can give myself before I face the day.

  4. This looks fantastic! I hope things at work slow down soon..in the meantime at least you have a fantastic get out of bed reason 🙂 I got in the habit of taking my dog for a walk every morning and now he’s at my bedside before the alarm with puppy dog eyes, ready to go. It’s inspiration…in a weird way 🙂

  5. I am in the same boat at work! Project is set to launch this week, so it is all hands on deck until then (including me working on Saturday, blech). So I could definitely use something to look forward to in the morning. For me its a quiet cup of coffee in my breakfast nook, which is full of windows. Seeing the daylight while enjoying a moment of calm is my favorite part of the day. But adding nutella could make it even better! Thanks for the idea 🙂

  6. I find I most hate going back to work when I have been on night shifts (like I was all last week), have a day and a half off, and have to go back to day shifts. When I’m on nights, it’s so peaceful in the lab (though it can be extremely busy) with just two of us working, and no clickity clack of bosses and managers around. I find once I get back to work in day shift mode, I’m OK, it’s just getting there:) If I had the physical ability to to permanent nights I would, but I don’t. 5 to 7 is about all I can handle.

  7. Almost everyone I know loves to snuggle in bed and doesn’t want to wake up not until we smell delicious breakfast from the kitchen. It becomes a different story, if you have to get up every morning to get that delicious breakfast going on in the kitchen…;0)
    Thanks for such a wonderful post. This is going to be a great inspiration to get me up from bed.

  8. Nutella is going in my oatmeal tomorrow.
    What gets me out of bed in the morning is the thought of coffee. I am the first one up in my house, and the thought of a peaceful cup of hot coffee is so nice…..once it warms up here, I will have my morning coffee either on the front porch, the back porch, or the 2nd floor balcony…..even better!
