I think I’ve mentioned this before, but going to Kiawah in September is always an interesting time of year. It’s like I start my vacation with summer and end it with fall.
We saw deer on the beach dunes during a morning walk.
Coffee seemed to taste better with this view.
We had one last quick breakfast…
…and I took one last bike ride on the beach.

We said goodbye to this year’s rental and hit the road.
We stopped just outside of town (in Charleston) at a cute restaurant called South of Philly Pizzeria. They had a couple small tables outside where Bailey could hang out with us. Hubby and I shared a pepperoni calzone.
But their dessert really stole the show. These are the Zepps (zeppolis). They are fried dough served warm and available multiple ways. This top one came with a creamy dipping sauce.
And this one was served in a sweet, syrupy sauce.
They were both really good! Definitely try them if if you’re ever in town. Be sure to save room for dessert!
Soon enough, it was time to take this weirdo home.
And sure enough, I got my first Starbucks fall cup on the road trip home. Goodbye beach, hello fall!
