The weekend was already so much fun. Tapas and comedy on Friday. Amazing West Village brunch plus matcha, shopping, and Broadway. And then we had Sunday…
Central Park
The weather was so beautiful, we couldn’t resist taking a walk through Central Park.
I can’t wait for this area to turn back into a skating rink. Visiting each of the skating rinks in NYC is on my bucket list. Originally, I had wanted to do this the first winter I arrived. But I only made it to the Bryant Park rink. Also, I recently watched Serendipity, and this is where Sarah and Jonathan go ice skating together early in the movie. It reminded me how much I want to visit.
Dance Break
Later in the day, I had to sneak away to PMT Dance Studio for a performance workshop practice session. We only had eight practices, and I knew I’d be missing at least one due to travel. I gave you guys a preview post on this, but I still owe you the full story.
Here’s another shot of my practice outfit. Sorry for the weird pose, but I wanted to show you guys the cool cut of this tank top by Athleta. Isn’t it cute? I like how it dips lower in the back.
Blossom on Carmine Vegetarian Dinner
As you guys know, I love eating vegetarian (and vegan!) from time to time. We visited Blossom on Carmine for dinner.
We got to eat at the front of the restaurant. We were technically inside, but they had doors they could open up to the street. We had a beautiful view of Carmine Street.
I had the seitan scallopini: “pan-seared seitan cutlets, white wine, lemon caper sauce, truffle mashed potato, sautéed kale”. This was really good, though I’m not sure I’m a big fan of seitan. It has a slightly chewy texture, if you’re into that. I really loved the sauce on this for sure.
Paola had the fettuccine alfredo (made with cashews!). I got to try a bite and thought it was really good. It’s sort of basic if you’re super into vegetarian food. But if you’ve never had a cream sauce made with cashews, this could be a fun one to try.
For dessert, we had the apple crisp.
All in all, another solid dinner. It’s nice to have some great vegetarian restaurants to explore in New York City.
Paola and I got to enjoy one last meal together before she had to take off. We got a quick breakfast at Friedman’s, and then she was off.
Paola, come see me again soon!
