World of Warcraft Thanksgiving (Official Cookbook)

My sister and her (now) hubby invited the family over for a second Thanksgiving…but a themed one this time! Our classic Thanksgiving was the day before. Anywho, they planned, organized, and prepared a World of Warcraft themed Thanksgiving using the official World of Warcraft cookbook.

My sister is quite the gamer and has been playing World of Warcraft for years. Her hubby recently purchased World of Warcraft: The Official Cookbook as a present to her.

And we got to partake in the results from their experiments putting the book into action.

They made several recipes from the book, and I’m sharing photos of what they whipped up.

And here’s my plate of deliciousness.

I love an extra Thanksgiving celebration!

The mushroom gravy was the surprise hit. It tasted really good on top of the turkey and rice cakes. As a carb lover, I also really enjoyed the wheat rolls. And the candied sweet potatoes were a nice treat. I thought it was sweet potato casserole from the looks, but it actually had slices of sweet potato inside.

Oh, and let’s not forget dessert too. The cookbook has it all, I tell ya!

World of Warcraft Thanksgiving (Official Cookbook)

The World of Warcraft Thanksgiving was a hit with all of us, gamers and non-gamers. For those not familiar with WoW, I believe all of the recipes were created based on food from the game. But with some ingredient modifications so you can, you know, get the ingredients in real life. No bat wings for us! At least I think that’s a food in the game. Sis is the one who would know.

The food, drink, and dessert came out great, though Sis did mention that she had to make some minor modifications to a couple of the recipes. For example, she said the rice cakes were a little hard to form into patties, so they ended up adding some flour to the mix. I didn’t do any of the cooking (other than helping fry the rice cakes), so I’m not sure what other modifications they made. But, if you have any questions, leave them in a comment or email me, and I’ll see if I can get a response from Sis.

PS: If you’re a Wow fan (or you’re cooking for one), you could easily re-create this meal. Or even do something similar for Christmas or another fun celebration.

Thank you, Sis and J, for the wonderful meal!

  1. So I bought this cookbook, and have been testing recipes here and there.

I want to make the Chocolate Celebration Cake, but as I was looking through the recipe, I noticed that it doesn’t have any eggs in it!

Is it possible to make a cake without eggs? What will the consistency be compared to cakes usually made with eggs? I’m very hesitant to make it now knowing it may not turn out as well as I had hoped!

    • Hi Heather, I checked with my sister, and she has not tried this cake recipe yet. And I don’t have this cookbook myself. But, I have experimented with no-egg baking. I’ve made a few vegan recipes, including some cakes, that are made without eggs. I haven’t seen this recipe in particular, but you can definitely make a great cake without eggs. For example, this recipe here on The Chic Life makes two mini chocolate cakes without eggs or milk! The recipe is here: https://thechiclife.com/2011/11/chocolate-depression-cake-minis-recipe.html Let me know how the cake goes if you try it!

      • Thanks Diana! I did end up making it — it was surprisingly fluffy but I found the crumb to be very loose. It felt much more delicate to me and was quite crumbly. I’m thinking a simple syrup sprinkle may have helped with the moisture and crumbly-ness. On a taste note — it was AMAZING. I never knew having cayenne pepper in a dessert could be so tasty!

The mini cakes look delish — I think I’ll be trying those out soon 🙂

        Thanks for the reply!

        • Hi Heather, Glad it came out tasting great! You could possibly try adding an egg to see if it binds the mixture more so it’s less crumbly. I haven’t seen the recipe myself, but it could be worth trying. Let me know how you like the cake minis if you try them! 🙂
