Oops! I almost forgot today is Thankful Thursday! Since I'm already up past when I was hoping to go to bed, I'll keep this short. The first thing that popped into my head for Thankful Thursday was "work." Sometimes I have bad days at work. Some days, I wish that I could be at home with hubby and Bailey watching Food Network and doing some crafty thing all day. Sometimes, I wish that I could spend all my time at home vegging out – all day, every day. But, I try to remind myself that being at work is a great thing. It means I'm blessed enough to have a job, which truly is a wonderful thing in this economy. Several of my friends have recently been laid off and seeing them struggle to find new jobs reinforces this idea. I will continue to remind myself about these thoughts when the alarm clock wakes me up "too early" tomorrow morning. lol. Till then, have a great night all!
And, since I don't like it when my posts don't have photos, here's a random photo of Bailey from one of those
Ugly Christmas Sweater parties we attended recently. He was sporting his "Santa" costume, which you can't really see in this photo, but hey, he still looks cute. One of my friends suggested we use this for a Christmas card. Hmm…
What are you thankful for today or this week?

So, I guess I've forgotten to do the last Thankful Thursday or so. New habits are hard to get into, aren't they? Anywho, I'd like to post more, but I spent most of the night trying to figure out how to do the Satin-binding fleece blanket project from my Sew Simple magazine. I expected to finish the whole thing tonight (it looked so deceptively simple in the mag), but I only got two edges done and it's just after midnight, I'm so ready for bed.
I do want to do my Thankful Thursday post, though. When I realized I was due a TT post, the first thing that popped into my head for a topic was "craftiness." I'm thankful for being "crafty." I'm also thankful for my parents for encouraging my creativity and artistic nature from a young age. If it weren't for them, who knows if I would be crafty at all! My dad, the architect, especially, pushed me to try new art mediums and often signed me up for summer art classes doing pottery, drawing, and general art stuff. I guess he wanted me to follow in his artistic footsteps, and though I'm not an architect, I do like to think that I got some of his artistic genes, which I channel through my jewelry biz and crafting here with you fine folks!
Did/Do you have any one special encourage your craftiness?

I think I accidentally signed up for a contest over at There is No Place Like Home before I read the rules…oopsie! Rather than ignore the contest, I'd like to take this opportunity to participate in the challenge by talking about what I'm thankful for. Remember that post about the Real Simple article on gratitude I posted awhile back? One thing I forgot to mention in the post is that (in addition to the stuff I mentioned in the post), I'd also like to work on being more thankful for what I have rather than looking at what I don't. It's easy to point out things you don't have or things that could be better, but I don't want to take the gifts I do have for granted. I'm thinking of trying to do a daily or monthly post about gratitude. What do you think? Maybe Thankful Thursday? I think someone already does this, but it's for a good cause, right?
One thing I'm thankful for is Freedom. It's amazing to think that so much of the world has lived without freedom in history. When freedom is something you're born with and grow up with, I think it becomes almost an expectation…a constant, if you will. It's hard to imagine it not being there and that's if the thought even crosses your mind. I think freedom is something that is easy for people to take for granted, when it really is a precious gift that should be appreciated.
What is something you're thankful for today?
Btw, I just re-read Kelli's blog a bit and it looks like I'm supposed to do a daily or weekly challenge that she specifies. I thought I was supposed to pick from the bulleted list she had in a previous post, but I'm still going to post this blog.

I've been meaning to blog about gratitude for awhile now anyways…ever since I read the Real Simple article, at least. Now, for the contest…I'm thinking I'm going to have to dig my paper-crafting supplies from my mess of a craft room and put something together. This could be fun!
