Hand Washaholic

Kicking off another week!

Happy Starbucks Monday to ya! I wasn’t too sleepy today so I just got a tall vanilla soy latte. I almost got a feta wrap, too, but managed to talk myself out of it. Not that they’re that expensive, but I try to only get them once in awhile…they add up. 😆

I had leftovers from Saturday for lunch (soba noodles, market veggies, tofu). Gotta say, I hate the way meat re-heats, but tofu almost always reheats nicely. At least it doesn’t taste weird.

I was MOST looking forward to some packed treats today….

TWO homemade granola bars! Yummers!

IMG_4173.jpg

One for a small snack.

Another for a pre-workout snack later. Yummmmmm!

The smell of these was intoxicating! It was all I could do to not gobble them down immediately. lol

Post work, it was time for zumba!

IMG_4176.jpg

I had about 1 1/2 hours of zumba tonight and it was fabulous! The only downside…all the sweat! Post workout, it was time for some Vega Whole Health Optimizer – a little more than half a scoop mixed with just water.

It was about 9pm by the time I got home. Since I left the house just before 9am, this means I was away from the house for basically 12 hours today with just a quick stop in to change pre-workout. Phew…being away from home so long makes for a long day!

Since I got home so late, hubby and I teamed up to make a quick dinner – TJ’s halibut, brown rice with black beans, peas.

IMG_1624.jpg

And for a fruit serving disguised as dessert…

IMG_1627.jpg

IMG_1629.jpg

…an individual peach crisp.

TIme to finish my peach crisp and sip some bedtime tea.

Final thought…I was watching Hoarders this weekend and they showed a guy who was both a hoarder and OCD. They said he “even washed his hands 20 times a day!“. Uhhhhhhh…I may actually wash my hands 20 times a day – is that a bad thing? I don’t see anything wrong with that! Now, I think this guy gets really obsessive about his hand-washing (I can see why the obsession thing makes it bad), while I’m just a germaphobe, so there’s a difference behind the reason, but it still made me question things.

What do you think? Is it weird to wash your hands a lot? How many times a day do you think you wash your hands? (Maybe I’ll count tomorrow to be sure…lol)

  1. you are going to be appalled but I don’t wash my hands often at all! Germs don’t really bug me because I rarely get sick. I guess I don’t see what the big deal is if the germs don’t manifest themselves in a ways that I can see/feel!

  2. When you have obsessive hand washing, you are terrified of touching anything that might go into your body without washing your hands. I have known people personally who have struggled with this disease and they have been know to wash their hands hundreds of times a day. Also, if you have obsessive hands washing it has often been found that you are scrubbing so hard that the skin cracks and looks raw!!
I dont think that washing 20 times a day is bad, but if it is an obsession, it might be a problem!!
    Hope that helps!! 🙂

  3. umm, I’m a nurse, so I wash my hands 3893257392843209 times a day. When not at work I still wash my hands a ton. Definitely don’t think 20 times a day is abnormal, but that’s me.

So random, but I love peas! And your soba/tofu/veggie dish looks yummy!

  4. If you count hand sanitzer, then yes, I wash them a lot too, but not quite 20! I don’t think it hurts to wash them a lot, but some say that you actually harming your own immunity by keeping germs away…that doesn’t stop me though 🙂

  5. I don’t wash my hands a lot, but I do frequently use anti-baterial soap all day long, but it’s due to the fact that I’m around dirty money and being in contact with strangers all day long too. My co-workers make fun of me b/c I have a traveling anti-bac soap at work with me at all times. That’s not weird is it? I mean, doesn’t everyone?!

As much as I’m a germaphobe, though, I don’t really like the non-water soaps. I don’t like the residue on my hands…esp before I eat. Nothing like tasting soap when you lick your finger. lol

  6. most of my officemates tease me about washing my hands a lot–but like you i’m just a germaphobe…since I work in a hospital and I do go to the wards…I need to wash my hands 🙂 i think it’s just normal to wash hands…are there risk of infection in your workplace?

i love all the food that you prepare…i dream of someday always preparing my own food–the healthy stuff 🙂

    have a nice day! 🙂

  7. i wash my hands alot too (prob. not 20 times!), but it’s all situation-dependent. i wash my hands in the bathroom, when cooking, before eating, when cleaning, etc. it adds up, but i think it’s your motivation that matters (obsession vs need).

  8. 20 times a day doesn’t seem like a lot to me. That doesn’t sound like a level of obsession to me, but then again, I wash my hands a lot! lol

  9. I don’t think you are OCD. 😉 People should wash their hands often, but that guy probably had other things obsessive about him—read: hoarding. 🙂

You always look so cute in your zumba clothes! I wish they made function tri clothes that looked that good! haha

  10. 20 times doesn’t seem OCD. Especially during flu season for example. But even if you go to the bathroom 5 times a day, if you wash before eating, that’s probably another 5 times or so. You’re already up to 10. Add in the extra times after you’ve played with your dog, handled the carts at the supermarket, etc. and you’re close to 20. I’m with you. I don’t think 20 is weird. Although maybe 20 times right after one another would be.

  11. I think if you make an obsessive focus to constantly wash your hands after everything you touch – then you are heading towards OCD city. However if you just happen to find yourself in situations where you need to wash your hands a lot (cooking, dealing with kids/pets, drink lots of water and are in the bathroom every 5 minutes) then I think it is totally normal! 🙂

  12. I am a germaphobe and wash my hands a lot! Between using the bathroom (lots of water drinking) and cooking meals, it has to be over 20 for me. Plus, I like to wash my hands before leaving the gym after touching all the weights and sweaty equipment.

  13. I really only wash my hands when I visit the restroom and before I cook…and also after I cook because I get stuff all over my hands usually. The way I see it, I only wash when there’s a reason.

  14. Mmmm those granola bars look tasty. I’m planning on making Ina’s granola bars soon because I LOVE her recipes. I just started a blog and I hope you don’t mind that I listed yours as one of my favorites!
