My Word of the Year 2025: Bold

Do you pick a word for the year? It’s a fun way to set a super high level intention for your New Year, and I love to do it as part of my New Year Reset. My Word of the Year for 2025 is: Bold!

I was inspired by my friend Kath of Kath Eats to actually blog about my word of the year. In looking at Kath’s word of the year 2025 blog post, I realized that I wish I had my word of the year documented over the years like she has.

Also…is it March? Yes!

(In fairness, I did select my word closer to the start of the year, it just took me awhile to blog about it haha)

Is it too late to pick a word of the year? Heck no!

As they say in the personal development world – the best time to start a goal was probably years ago. The next best time is now.

I’m a big believer in doing your goal & intention setting and other planning any time of year.

So if you haven’t picked your word of the year, go ahead and do it now. Maybe my post will inspire you. Keep reading to learn my 2025 word of the year, what it means to me, and why I picked it!

Here we go!

My Word of the Year: BOLD

As I worked through my 2024 review and created my 2025 goals, I realized that there was a theme. The last several years have been hard. Between some work trauma, extreme burnout, and my divorce, a lot of my focus has been on healing and getting my health back on track.

Now that my foundation feels stronger, I feel ready to (cheesy as this sounds) spread my wings and fly.

Freedom lies in being bold.

~ Robert Frost

I’m ready to further build my dream life upon the solid foundation I’ve created over the last several years.

And I also simply feel more confident to be more brave. To face more of my fears. To put myself out there more.

Fortune favours the bold.

~ Virgil

In ALL areas of my life!

But here are some key focus areas…

Bold with My Business

I want to be bold with The Chic Life so I can finally make my entrepreneur dreams happen and do TCL full time.

I want to stop thinking and thinking and thinking about various challenges, coaching programs, and group coaching ideas and actually launch them.

In my heart, I know that I have SO much value to offer the world. And I’ve had such a wonderful health journey over the years. Even throughout the ups and downs, I’ve truly enjoyed it.

And I’d love to better share what I’ve learned through trial and error, using myself as a guinea pig, to help others with achieving their own health and wellness goals!

As you know, I’m a big believer that the wise man learns from the mistakes of others. And I’m more than happy to share my (many) mistakes if it will help others 1) avoid painful mistakes and 2) shortcut their way to faster success.

Boldly Traveling (Where I Have and Haven’t Been Before)

But I also want to travel more. And go to more cool places! One of my biggest disappointments of 2024 was how I not only rarely took time off of work but that I didn’t go hardly anywhere at all.

What kind of life is that?

Something international would be amazing! I haven’t traveled internationally since my trip to Thailand in 2018.

Update: I decided to take action on my 2025 goals fast! So I actually have already achieved my goal of an international trip. I attended the Harmony with the Elements yoga retreat in the gorgeous Dominican Republic, which you can read about here!

Taking My Health to Bold Levels

Another one of my big goals is increasing my strength in 2025. Like I literally want to build big muscles and get back to my athlete self.

(I trained as a competitive figure skater growing up)

I know this is a lot harder when you’re in your forties like me. But what the heck. Why not try?

I’ve seen tons of videos on social media of literal grandmas with big muscles doing full pull-ups over on social media. If they can do it, why not me?

But I don’t want to just *look* strong. I want to BE strong. I want to be able to do new, more complicated yoga poses. To do a FULL push-up. Even a full pull-up.

And I keep playing with the idea of getting back into regular figure skating training. Maybe even get a program. For fun. Or I dunno…maybe to compete again one day as an adult figure skater?

Overall, I want to stop playing small and be bigger and bolder as I continue to create, live, and enjoy my dream life!

Being Open to Bold Possibilities

In general, I want to be open to bold possibilities.

Ooh this would make a GREAT affirmation:

I am open to bold possibilities

You know I love writing positive affirmations for you!

When you choose a word of the year, it can basically become your overarching intention for the year. A North Star, if you will.

And when you’ve trained your mind to be open to being bold, your mind will start to look at things differently. It will find those opportunities to be bold.

You will find new ways to be bold that you hadn’t considered before when your focus was different.

And so I’m excited to see what surprise opportunities await me in 2025.
