Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt Hits Charlotte

There’s a new froyo in town, Charlotte friends!

In fact, readers all around may have heard of our latest frozen yogurt joint – Menchie’s! Menchie’s actually has locations in almost every state and even some internationally. Do you have a location near you?

The first North Carolina store opened up recently right in Charlotte. I decided to scope it out after my trip to the Food Truck Rally.

The inside is colorful and well-organized.

They have a lot of the usual suspects froyo-flavor-wise, like tart.

But, they also have some unique flavors:

  • Strawberry Banana (as in the two flavors in one froyo handle)
  • Red Velvet
  • Dulce de Leche

I’d read (and drooled) about Red Velvet on other bloggers’ posts, but they all lived in other states. I was glad to see the flavor finally hitting my town. Red Velvet is one of my favorite types of cake! 🙂 I’m happy to report that it is very tasty in froyo form.

Menchie’s also has waffle cones, which I haven’t seen at most (any?) froyo spots.

They had a wide assortment of self-serve toppings.

The even had my personal fave – mochi! Everything was so nice and neat.

I appreciated how clean the toppings bar looked. I went to another froyo place (that shall remain anonymous) one time that had a really cool concept and the most toppings I’ve ever seen. But the toppings area was so gross – toppings spilled everywhere and smeared on the countertops, toppings mixed together – I couldn’t really enjoy the experience…or the froyo. Ever since then, I’ve really started paying attention to the cleanliness of the toppings bar.

Menchie’s had a few liquid toppings, too.

Check out their super-cute spoon. It says, “This is my mix.”

I got 3 froyo flavors:

  • red velvet
  • dulce de leche
  • cake batter

On top:

  • strawberries
  • blueberries
  • coconut
  • mochi

I enjoyed my froyo on Menchie’s pretty patio.

It was the perfect way to end the day and soak up the last rays of the gorgeous sunlight.

All in all, Menchie’s was a great froyo spot. I thought the froyo was really tasty and nice & creamy. Also, I thought the experience factor was top-notch, too.

What’s most important to you in a froyo/ice cream store? Flavors? Toppings? Mixins? Customer Service? Location?

  1. We have Menchie’s here- LOVE IT! I love the variety of flavors and that you can sample them, and of course I love the vast array of toppings. The original tart is my favorite, but peanut butter is a close second. Sometimes I just get those two plain if I’m being good, or just plain with mango on top. And when I feel like overindulging, there’s all kinds of candy involved!

  2. love the new header!! We have a ton of fro yo places here, but no menchie’s. Looks yummy! We actually had some fro yo tonight 🙂 I like cleanliness, creamy texture, and real fruit toppings (not out of season fruit in a sugary goopy mess ick)

  3. Is this the same one that’s in South Park Mall? I can’t remember the name of that frozen yogurt place. From the pictures it looks EXACTLY the same with the same concept. There’s always a line of people waiting to buy some yogurt. I even tried it once right before I moved from the States and I am dying to go back. Now that we’re moving back, I’m thinking that place will be my first stop. And if this isn’t the same shop, then I hope to try out Menchie’s as well. It looks delish.

  5. What a great concept. I have never heard of this chain. I moved to Canada 3 yrs ago, but I’m from Greensboro, NC. I will try to find this place when I am back down for one of my mini visits.
