I’ve been so excited to share my big news with you, and today’s the day to do it.
My Big 2016 Announcement
I’m going to NYC for work!
As regular readers know, this blog covers a little bit of everything, from food to fashion to fitness to a little bit of everything in between. I’m planning to keep pretty much the same format. Though I’m going to NYC for work, I’ve pretty much always preferred to keep my work life off of the blog out of respect for my employer and clients. So, I won’t be talking about my work life. Just about my adventures in NYC. I’m hoping to reboot the fashion posts a little (think of the backdrops I’ll find!), and of course, I’m definitely going to cover the food. I think I’m most excited about the food. I’m planning to enjoy the restaurant scene and also continue developing new recipes.
And just to clarify, I’m not “moving” to NYC. Charlotte is still my home, but since I’ll be working in NYC, I’ll be there most of the time. I’ll be back and forth between both cities pretty often. We’re keeping our house in Charlotte…keep reading for an update on that!
But Wait, There’s More
In addition to my NYC life, there’s still a lot going on at home. We’re going to be doing a full kitchen renovation! More on that another time, but between this and NYC, I’m sure you can understand why I’m going to be cheating on Eat in Month a bit (a lot?) this year. I still wanted to host in January since that’s been the tradition for the last five (six?) years, and I know many of you look forward to doing it then to kick-start your year. I’m enjoying reading your tweets and seeing your Instagram photos with the #eatinmonth hashtag, so keep it up. I can do Eat in Month vicariously through you.
10 Years of Blogging
In other news, on Wednesday January 20th, I’ll be celebrating 10 years of blogging. Isn’t that crazy? I almost can’t believe it’s been that long. I want to do something special to celebrate, so hopefully I’ll come up with something good.
Update: I wrote my first-ever blog post in January 2006 on a different blog. But, The Chic Life was born on September 10, 2006. So, I think I’m going to work on celebrating that date so I have more time to plan.
Oh, and if you have any tips for me for ##living in NYC, please leave me a comment, tweet me (@thechiclife), or email me at thechiclife at gmail dot com. I’m especially looking for non-touristy restaurant recommendations, best places to shop, and general tips for getting around and living in the city. I’d love to hear from you!
