Why Make a Health Vision Board?

We do a mix of practical meets woo here at The Chic Life.

  • Manifestation: The most obvious reason to make a vision board is to manifest your dream healthy lifestyle through the pictures you put on your Health Vision Board. This is a powerful way to tell the Universe / your Higher Power exactly what you want in terms of your wellness goals.
  • Practical: I also find vision boards to be super helpful in practical ways too. Firstly, it can sometimes be hard to articulate what your health goals are. But we can more easily be drawn to pictures that capture (on a conscious and even subconscious level) what we most deeply want. Next, you can use this big picture to break down your dream healthy lifestyle into SMART goals and actionable plans and steps to bring your dream life to your reality.

And of course a Health Vision Board is a great way to stay motivated and aligned to your health goals.

How to Make a Health Vision Board (In 6 Steps)

Here are the 6 steps to make a Health Vision Board:

  1. Connect with your ideal future self (use journal prompts, meditations, etc.) and describe her
  2. Decide what pillars, themes, and / or vibes you want to infuse into your health vision board
  3. Find and download your vision board graphics (use pictures, affirmations, quotes, etc.)
  4. Make your vision board collage (use Canva / PicMonkey, print your graphics and make a physical vision board, etc.)
  5. Download your vision board and put it somewhere you can see it often
  6. Bonus: Use your big picture dream self to create aligned goals and intentions

Each of these are broken down in the following sections.

Step 1: Connect with Your Ideal Future Self

This could be considered a potential optional step. However I find spending even a few minutes connecting with what your big picture version of your healthiest you even looks like is a useful step that will help you create a more aligned Health Vision Board.

Two ways to connect with your ideal future self:

  1. Ideal future self meditation / general meditation: Especially if you’re not exactly sure what your health goals are, meditation is a great way to tap into your intuition and most soul-aligned vision of your healthiest you.
  2. Journal prompts: On a more practical note, you can use journal prompts to help articulate your thoughts and pull your dream healthy lifestyle from your brain. Get FREE journal prompts in the next section!

Of course there are many ways you can tap into your dream self, but these are two of my favorites.

Health Vision Board Journal Prompts

Here are some journal prompts you can use to connect with your highest self:

  • Imagine the healthiest version of you. Describe her. Optional follow-on questions: How does she feel? What does she look like? What kind of clothes does she wear? What kinds of foods does she eat? What workouts does she enjoy? Who does she spend time with? What makes her happy? What helps her thrive?
  • When I imagine the most vibrant version of me, what is she doing daily?
  • What outdated beliefs about my body or health am I ready to release?
  • How do I want to look and feel in the mirror — and why is that important to me?
  • If I fully trusted myself to make choices that support my highest self, what would I start doing today?
  • What are the most important things for me to do this year to step into the healthiest version of me next year?

Step 2: Decide on Your Health Vision Board Pillars, Themes, and Vibes

To find the best, most aligned pictures it’s important to figure out what kinds of images you’re even looking for. Are you focused on eating healthy? What about the gym? Do you want to factor in other holistic health areas of your life? Use the following lists to help get clarity.

Holistic Health Pillars

  • Courageous

Step 3: Find and Download Your Graphics

With your Health Vision Board Pillars, Themes, and / or Vibes in mind, go to Pinterest and find images that align with your vision for your healthiest self!

You can either scroll through your home feed to look for images you want to use on your Health Vision Board. Or, you can use the search and use the pillars, themes, and vibes you liked most as your search terms.

Tip: Consider adding the word “aesthetic” to your search to find really pretty images to use.

Click on an image in the home feed and / or search feed to open a larger view, and then click on the 3-dot menu and select the “Download image” option to download the images you love most.

Move these into a folder so you can easily find them later.

Step 4: Making Your Vision Board Collage in Canva (Or Tool of Your Choice)

Note: For the purposes of this blog post (and the accompanying YouTube video), we’re going to make a digital vision board. You could always print the images and make a paper / physical vision board.

Here’s how to make a beautiful, aesthetic Health Vision Board using the images you found:

  1. Open Canva (or your tool of choice).
  2. Create a new project and set your canvas size to your preference. I like Desktop and Phone Wallpapers for digital vision boards. Note: the default size for Canva wallpapers may not match your device, so enter your exact dimensions as a custom size if you want it to be an exact match.
  3. Drag images from the folder where you stored your favorite images onto the background.
  4. Move the images around to your liking. Note: This may be better explained on the YouTube video, so check that out for more tips.
  5. Play with the position and change how the images overlap. I prefer them to overlap a little organically versus being perfectly lined up, but make it to your preference.
  6. You can also use the crop tool to remove any portions of the images you don’t want to use.
  7. I like to add the visuals first and then put some Health Affirmations (or other Positive Affirmations) as well as Vision Board Quotes as the top most layer.
  8. You can also add text to your Health Vision Board. Tip: Add a rectangle or other background shape behind the text to make it pop!

Keep playing with the position of the images until you love how everything looks together. Feel free to replace images. And you don’t have to use ALL of the images you downloaded. Put your favorites on there!

Step 5: Download and Use Your Vision Board

Once you’re happy with how your vision board looks and feels, you can download a copy of the image. In Canva – click on the “Share” button and then select “Download” from the menu options. I like to download either a .png or .jpg file.

Now, some people say you should use your vision board frequently while others say you can make it and forget it.

Either approach works great, so choose whichever feels best to you.

Personally, I’ve found that using a vision board as an active tool has worked better for me because I can use it to really get into the energy of having everything I want.

Bonus Step: Use Your Health Vision Board for Goal Planning

Now, this bonus tip could be its own blog post and YouTube video, so I’ll keep this short. But let me know you want me to add more detail to this.

Basically, your health vision board is now a visual representation of your healthiest you. Sometimes things come up in vision board making that you’re not even consciously aware that you want. So this can be a fun way to tap into your intuition and highest self.

Your vision board basically shows your biggest goals and vision for your dream life. With this, you now know more about where you’re trying to go with your health journey. You have your big goals and dreams. And you can take these and break them down into smaller goals, projects, and action steps that you can work on throughout the year!

You can even make creating and using your vision board part of your Goal Planning process!
