Awesome Sunday Afternoon

The end of the weekend is here, but it’s been a good one! I love looking back at the end of a weekend and thinking about all the fun times.

I basically spent most of today re-cooping from yesterday’s adventure.

I recently got a new tea from Teavana – Youthberry. I bought some of this for my sister for Christmas and have been wanting to pick some up for myself since then. It’s a bit expensive, but it was worth it for a couple ounces. I don’t drink loose leaf tea very often since it’s harder to brew at work (or at least I don’t have the extra brew tools), so it will last awhile.

From the web site for this flavor:

This tea is extremely high in antioxidants and low in caffeine. The Acai berry is known for its rejuvenating and detoxifying properties. Studies show that white teas may inhibit the growth of certain forms of cancer, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and act as a natural detoxifier for the body. White tea is good for the skin and complexion. This tea contains 1% of the caffeine in a cup of coffee.

I was craving Flying Biscuit for brunch, but ended up just eating at home: scrambled eggs and toast – one savory and one sweet piece of toast. One with real butter and one with whipped cinnamon honey.

Another TCL lunch-favorite – noodle stir fry with some of the last of the green tea noodles, kale from my garden, edamame, and sesame seeds.

Whilst catching today’s Harry Potter movie marathon, I decided to bake oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I even got to try a special ingredient I’ve been wanting to use for awhile – grain-sweetened chocolate chips! These babies are a perfect Not So Sweet baking staple. I tasted a couple chips before baking, and they tasted less sweet than traditional chips. Yay! I think the conventional chocolate chips are often a little too sweet.

Nothing like fresh-baked cookies…

…except for maybe fresh-baked rosemary focaccia!

I used this tried and true recipe sans parmesan and using all AP flour. It worked like a charm.

To go with the focaccia we had salads…

…and grass-fed beef spaghetti with whole wheat pasta.

And of course cookies for dessert!

Spaghetti + salad + Homemade focaccia + homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies + Harry Potter movie marathon = awesome Sunday evening!

Are you a Harry Potter fan? Which movie/book is your favorite?

  1. That spaghetti looks delicious!

And yes, big Harry Potter fan. Full card-carrying, fanfic-writing fan, actually, heh. My favourite is probably still Half-Blood Prince, followed closely by Deathly Hallows. Although I’m still peeved that Remus and Tonks died in the last book. 🙂 I named my dog Remus, so clearly a HP geek over here!

  2. That tea is SO pretty! It’s the loveliest shade of pink. I’m a TOTAL Harry Potter nerd. I think the last book is my favorite…and I can’t wait to see the last movie! I also refer to my office at work as The Chamber of Secrets. Don’t judge. 🙂

  3. Those cookies look awesome! I will have to try the grain sweetened chips for sure.

I LOVE Harry Potter! All the books were so good, the last one was definitely the most intense. It will be very bittersweet when the last movie comes out. and I went to Harry Potter World a few months ago…a freakin-mazing!!

    • I’ve heard great things about that park! I’ve been before when it had a different name, but I’d love to go back and see how they reconfigured it for HP.

Did you do the dueling dragons ride? That is one of my faves! Makes me want to go to Orlando just thinking about it! 🙂

  4. I do love Harry Potter – and the movies too – I’m not a fan who thinks the movies should be exactly like the books. My favorite book is the Goblet of Fire – and my favorite movie too! Sounds like you had an awesome Sunday night!

    • I got them at Dean and Deluca. I’ve ordered them at a restaurant before but D&D was the first “grocery” type store where I’ve seen them! 🙂

Ooh and the focaccia is SO good! Try it! 🙂
