Some beautiful paths can’t be discovered without getting lost ~Erol Ozan
Have you ever been exploring a new city and taken a wrong turn only to discover a hidden gem you wouldn’t have otherwise seen? This has happened to me plenty of times before. But outside of the literal experiences tied to this quote, I’ve discovered many beautiful paths in life too.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel lost at times (many times!) over the last couple years. But, I also realize that is is in these times of discomfort and uncertainty that we often experience the most growth. I believe we’re given the choice of how to handle the situations and life circumstances presented to us. We can let the difficult times break us or we can choose to use them as stepping stones to level up. While the former is often easiest, the latter is where the magic happens.
Over the weekend, I ran into my friend Harry. We talked about how we wouldn’t change things that have happened in our lives. Even the seemingly worst situations and people resulted in some of our best and most life-changing outcomes. One of the most negative people I’ve ever encountered inspired me to be an even more positive person. And to spread good vibes as much as I can. And my NYC work assignment almost didn’t happen. I don’t know what life would be like without it. I’ve been fortunate to enjoy so many wonderful life experiences and to meet so many inspiring people. Both have enriched my life beyond my wildest imagination.
If you’re going through a difficult time, I encourage you to stay positive and look for the good. It can be hard to find, but it’s always there if you keep an eye out for it. You may feel lost, but look for the beautiful paths ready to be discovered along the way.
