Exploring New York City is so much more fun with friends. I’ve been so thankful to have friends visiting me, but it’s also been cool to make new friends.
Fairway Market Lunch
I met up with one of my new NYC friends, Mitchell, at Fairway Market for brunch/lunch. They look like a grocery store, but they have food, too. At least they did at their Upper West Side location. I had a turkey sandwich on a roll. It was good!
As we’re leaving Fairway, Mitchell tells me that there’s an amazing bakery nearby. Did someone say “baked goods”? I’m pretty much always down for a bakery adventure.
Levain Bakery
Levain Bakery is just a block or so away from Fairway Market. Just on the way to Central Park.
Mitchell, who you may recognize from the Britney dance class videos I post all the time, tells me that Levain has the best cookies in town.
I couldn’t wait to get closer to the selections to choose a flavor to try.
Of course I went with the chocolate chip with walnuts. So basic. So not sorry.
If you didn’t know from the huge line outside, Levain is pretty famous in town. And they have the news clippings to prove it.
Cookie secured.

We continued through the Upper West Side till we reached Central Park.
Central Park
The weather was beautiful. We sat on a bench near one of the ponds (lakes?) at the park.
As for the cookie. Do you see how thick this thing is? It also weights almost as much as a bowling ball. Ok, not really, but it’s quite dense and heavy.
Serious cookie eaters only, please.
We continued to stroll around the park, catching up on life and what not.
And then it was time to part ways for the day.
