SCBR Week 1/Day 3 Food/Exercise Journal

I woke up today with a huge crick in my neck, but I think I got a decent night of sleep. I must have gone to bed too late because I hit snooze for about an hour. That’s bad, I know, but I was at work till 7PM last night and I figured I wasn’t getting out of work early today, so why go in early, right?

7:30am – Coffee – Awake

I had my usual AM coffee – FM Breakfast Blend with 2 tsp sugar and 2 tbsp 2% milk. The coffee helped me wake up enough to get ready for work. I tried to carefully pack lots of goodies for snacks and lunch.

10:00am – Clif Chocolate Almond Fudge – Satisfied

Though I did a good job packing lunch and snacks, in my sleepiness, I totally forgot to pack breakfast. I didn’t realize it till I was sitting in our large conference room where I would be spending the entire day.

Luckily, I had a Clif Chocolate Almond Fudge bar tucked away in my desk. After verifying that the bar didn’t contain peanut butter and that it wasn’t on Clif’s list on their web site of recalled products, I got to eating during a meeting. My co-workers laughed about me taking pictures of all my food, but so far, they are pretty understanding.

I knew the bar had chocolate in it, but I was surprised at how dark it was. I was even more surprised at how much I liked it. It was chewy and had a deep chocolate flavor like you could taste real cocoa powder or something (not sure if it’s in the ingredients, but I think you know what I mean). It had a really good dark-chocolate taste to it. The texture was nice, too. Yum!

12:00pm – Celestial Seasonings – Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea – Satisfied

By noon, I needed something to help me warm up in the chilly office. I made some Celestial Seasonings Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea. It was super good…I’m sure the caffeine helped me pay attention my meeting. The heat def helped me stay toasty!

1:00pm – Turkey/Cheese Sammy, Carrots + Hummus – Satisfied

For lunch, I had another turkey + cheese sandwich on Great Harvest Dakota bread…

…along with some baby carrots and some Trader Joe’s Hummus (about 2 tbsp). I also had about 2 cups of water.

I couldn’t quite finish the hummus though. Hopefully, I’ll get to it tomorrow.

2:30pm – Yogi Tea – Echinacea Immune Support – Satisfied

Does any one else ever get that feeling like you may be coming down with something? Like you just feel “off” somehow? I decided to take some preventative measures and have been taking Vitamin C lately. I also got some more Yogi Tea Echinacea Immune Support at the store today and immediately enoyed a cup.

Yogi quote for the day – “Old age needs wisdom and grace.”

3:00pm – Newmen’s Own Snacks – Satisfied

Around 3PM, one of our co-workers stopped by our meeting room to share some yummy treats. She traded a Newman’s Own Fig Newman for a Champion Chip Cookie. I got one of each for free since I didn’t have anything to trade.

Both were excellent! They made a great snack.

7:00pm – Quick-Fix Dinner – Chicken, Collards, Wild Rice – A Wee Bit Short of Satisfied

IMG_2210.JPG

For dinner, I made that quick-fix style meal I blogged about earlier. I had a rotisserie chicken BBQ breast (which I picked up already cooked at the store) and made some sauteed collard greens and turmeric wild rice pilaf.

I didn’t finish all the chicken breast. It was huge! I decided to save some chicken for lunch tomorrow.

10:00pm – Apple + Cereal “Dessert” – Satisfied

IMG_2216.JPG

My sweet tooth usually calls to me after dinner and since dinner was pretty light, I decided to oblige. I normally don’t like to snack after 9PM-ish, but I couldn’t resist having one of those Pink Lady apples we just had delivered earlier today. They looked so fresh and tasty, and now that I’ve had one, I can tell you that they are! They are sooo good!

IMG_2219.JPG

I also had a small bowl of Kashi Honey Sunshine cereal ( about 1/2 cup cereal, 1/2 cup 2% milk).

I didn’t do any exercising today, but that’s ok since I’ve done some the last 2 days. I’m thinking of signing up for my YMCA account again. I am a bit irked with them, though, because I went on their web site today to check the schedule for Power Yoga and 5 out of 6 classes every week are in the middle of the day (think 1:45pm-2:45pm). I could only go before or after. People who can work out in the middle of the day are sooo lucky! Seriously. I’m gonna have to think on this one some more and check to see if hubby and I sign up for an account together whether or not we can get a discount. That would be a nice incentive!

  1. I love the food diary thing, it is fun to read 🙂 BTW, Sabra hummus is by far the best store bought kind. I have only had one of those Clif bars and it was so gross I couldn't bring myself to try another kind 🙁 They always look so yummy though!
