I had a fun day with my friends full of eats, fresh air, and beautiful scenery. We started with brunch at 7th Street Public Market and then hit up Anne Springs Close Greenway for a day of good, clean fun.
{A preview of Anne Springs Close Greenway}
7th Street Public Market was kickin, as it usually is on the weekends.
Almost all of the tables were full when we got there, but the girls managed to score a table in the middle.
I wasn’t super hungry, so I had a cup of chicken and vegetable soup and a pretzel by Local Loaf. The soup came with toasted (looks like maybe) baguette. I didn’t realize the soup came with bread, so I probably shouldn’t have gotten the pretzel. Oops. I’ll know for next time. The soup was really good, and it was a pretty good deal for the size, content, and the fact that it comes with a nice portion of bread. I think it was around $3.50 or $4.50, but don’t quote me.
I think we were still in yolo-mode, so I got a hot chocolate from Not Just Coffee and…
…and cronut from Cloud 9 Confections. I wouldn’t call this a “cronut”, but I would recommend trying it. To me, a cronut is shaped like a donut and fried. I believe this one is more like a baked croissant rolled in cinnamon sugar. It may be ever-so-slightly healthier since it doesn’t have the frying component. What it is for sure – delicious! Be sure to ask them to warm it up. That really adds to the eating experience. Mmm!
We next headed over to Viva Raw for a juice sampling.
I thought I had tried all of the Viva Raw juices, but there were some new to me. They were all really good, but I went with the one with coconut water. I forgot the name, but it’s the one that is light green-yellow-ish in color. It was really refreshing.
Next up, we headed down to South Carolina (just past the NC border) to visit Anne Springs Close Greenway.
Quick tip: If you aren’t a member, there will be a small fee to visit. Be sure to bring some cash.
It was a beautiful day to be outside.
The sky was so blue, and the sunlight streamed through the trees so nicely. We all did a quick photo shoot along this tree-lined stretch of the Haigler Loop.
The girls!
To end our adventure, we headed over to the area with the animals. If you followed me on Snapchat (thechiclifeblog), you would have had the pleasure of seeing my friend Briana in full action as the goat whisperer.
I was reminded how much I like being outdoors. I’ve read that doing so is really good for you, especially to help with de-stressing. I know I felt better after an afternoon on Anne Springs Close Greenway with great friends. What a wonderful day!
