After a delicious dinner in West Village followed by a most-unique dessert, Sis and I ended up a (NYC-wise) short walk away for brunch the next day.
Coppelia Brunch
This was another pick by Sis. She was looking for a very particular brunch item and found it here. Read on for what that must-have was.
We started with fresh juice. I believe mine was mango.
And we got a complimentary plate of baked treats, both savory and sweet. They were really good, but I held back so I’d have room for the main course.
I was torn between picking two dishes but I went for the Huevos Pericos because I found out this is only available during brunch hours. It was a huge plate of food that I enjoyed attempting to finish. I’m a big fan of fried rice, and I’ve never had one quite like this. It was a nice change of pace from the usual.
As for that dish my Sis was hunting for…she wanted to locate a restaurant that served blue corn pancakes. And she found it here at Coppelia.
Aladdin the Musical
After brunch, we met up with my friends Justin, Emily, and Julia to see Aladdin the musical.
Sis and I were big fans of the Disney movie. And Justin and Emily had been before and said the show was great. We agreed! It was interesting to see how they modified the animated movie into a Broadway show. I don’t want to give away too much, but some characters were replaced or modified so they could be acted out on stage. All of the characters were great, but the genie really stole the show. He was so hilarious and engaging. The set and costumes were so beautiful and colorful. We really enjoyed the experience.
Next time – wait till you see what we ate for dinner! It’s one of the most stand out meals I’ve had yet.
