So glad you guys liked Bailey’s video premiere! His brithday is just starting as this blog post publishes! Woohoo!
Been hoarding my HLS swag bag goodies…*sigh*
I always save the good ones too long! lol
Loved my Empower Glo Bar sample. I waited a bit to eat it, but it was still quite tasty. Thanks Ang!
I made some date-rice-milk-oats for a pre-workout snack WITH salt (new trick I learned thanks to that talk on Sports Nutrition at HLS).
Taught a fabulous private Zumba class tonight with a guest appearance from my head instructor, Erica. We busted out a lot of fun, new songs:
- What Is It
- Shake Your Pom Pom
- Shake
- Press It Up
So fun! I just love that Shake Your Pom Pom song (from the Step Up 2 the Streets soundtrack) but I can’t remember the choreography! Hopefully Erica will help me learn it. 🙂
Erica and I hit up Dean and Deluca for some post-workout sustenance to enjoy whilst chatting about class, choreography notes, areas for improvement, and all that fun stuff.
The pita chips here are to-die-for, so I had to have them. I got some hummus for pita-chip-dipping along with an expensive fava bean salad ($8 for that small container! As if!) and some black bean chili. The soup was just ok, but the hummus and chips…LOVE!
Dessert = an adora sample from the HLS swag bags.
I definitely wasted a good 20+ minutes watching old-school Michelle Kwan videos. The videos make me miss skating terribly, but I also feel extremely lucky to have been growing up along with Michelle (we are nearly the same age just 2 months apart). It was awesome to enjoy her skating while I was practicing figure skating, too. It seems no one can match her talent and artistry.
Here’s a wonderful video from when Michelle won the 2003 Worlds – such a powerful program! I can’t believe she almost quit competing a year or so before this, but I’m so glad she didn’t.

By the way, we lucked out big time with Cafe Don Pablo coffee giveaway! At first, Don Pablo was just going to give away 1 bag of coffee, but they decided to give everyone who entered a free bag instead! How generous! 🙂
Thank you Don Pablo!
I emailed all the winners earlier today. If you didn’t receive an email, but you entered the giveaway, please shoot me an email and let me know.

Currently enjoying some fresh-brewed hot tea.
Time for bed…g’night!
What was your childhood hobby/sport? Do you still do it?
I started skating at the age of 5 and was a competitive skater for years. Had the amazing opportunity to train with Nancy Kerrigan and Paul Wylie. I stopped for a variety of reasons, and I miss it SO MUCH. When I finish grad school in May I fully intend to get back on the ice. There is nothing that makes me happier than this sport. I miss everything about it. Even the smell of the ice 🙂
PS = I watch skating videos all the time. Those 20+ minutes were not wasted in my opinion 😉
I almost took a lesson with Paul Wylie as an adult! He coaches in town. 🙂 He is such an amazing skater…I still love his JFK program!
Glad to find a fellow skater out there!
You are a fabulous Zumba instructor!! Everyone that gets to come to your class is super luckyy!
Awwwwwwww thanks Sana! 🙂
My childhood sport was tennis. I actually miss it A LOT because I don’t play anymore. I totally burned out on it in high school 🙁
I’ve tried tennis before, but not until I was an adult and never competitively. Think you’ll ever play again?
Wow, your Zumba classes seem like a blast!!! When I was a child I think I did just about every sport, but the one I stuck with the longest was softball.
My primary activities were ballet and cheerleading. Other than breaking out into certain cheerleading dances when I hear the appropriate music, I only stuck with ballet. I take adult drop-in ballet classes once a week or so.
I tried dancing and gymnastics which I wasn’t very good at either. So I switched to softball and volleyball, although I gave it up once I got to high school. Looking back I wish I would have stuck with soomething. I think figure skating is such a beautiful sport. Now that’s something I’ve never done being from the hot, humid South Louisiana. Looks challenging, but so elegant! Have a lovely day!
My childhood sports were soccer and swimming. I had to quit late in high school because of an injury =( I also tap danced all through elementary and middle school!
My childhood sport was basketball. Started when I was five and played through college. Lots of memories made and I think that sports teach great values and diciplines that can be carried throughout life! 🙂
I had so many childhood sports 🙂 Gymnastics, softball, figure skating, cross country and track and field! I played on a softball team this year and I suppose you could say I’m doing cross country! 🙂
My childhood sport was tae kwon do. I actually reached the level of brown belt! Hi yah!
I tried tennis and basketball as a child. Not so good at either one, but husband & I still play tennis from time to time. Then in jr high & HS I started running CC & track, and stuck w/ those in college too. I’m still a runner to this day, just training for races that are longer!
i loved gymnastics until i had my growth spurt in 8th grade…i dreamed of being an Olympian! turns out there aren’t too many 5’10” Olympic gymnasts out there though 🙂
My favorite childhood sports were swimming and skating 🙂 I never pursued either of them seriously though, it was just for fun. I haven’t skated for so long but every winter here in Ottawa the Rideau Canal freezes over and I’m trying to make it a habit to start going there and re-learn to skate – especially on a non-flat surface!
I’ve been dying to try a Glo Bar. I need to just buck up and place an order!
I was pretty overweight as a kid and was afraid to do sports 🙁 So I never got into anything…although I wish I would have! My sport back then was downing pizza and doritos
🙁
You are too cute in your Zumba wear! I love it!
I figure skated as a kid too, though I quit when it started to get serious because it was too much of a time commitment. I think SCHOOL was my hobby for way too long- I was obsessed!!
