15 Minute Morning Routine for Positive Energy (Gratitude, Journaling, Planning)

Morning routines are a great way to start your day with positive energy and raise your frequency overall.
Even when I had my busy 9to5, my days were SO much better if I could carve out even 15 minutes to be mindful about my energy before the chaos of Outlook, co-worker IMs, and what not. My schedule has almost always been pretty packed out, but I found a short morning routine was SO worth making space to complete for all the positive results.
For this morning routine, we’ll focus on 3 easy and enjoyable vibe-raising activities:
- Gratitude
- Journaling
- Planning Your Day
To do this morning routine, I recommend setting a timer for 5 minutes for each section. Get tips, prompts, and more for each section below.
Let’s break down each of these. But first…
Success Tips for Your 15 Minute Morning Routine for Positive Energy

You don’t need a complicated morning routine to start your day with positive energy. The most important thing is to be intentional with how you start your day versus reacting to inputs from your phone, other people, or other external sources.
Here are some morning routine success tips:
- If you can, try to do your morning routine *before* using your device. By avoiding scrolling, checking emails, etc. you can proactively cultivate the energy you *choose* versus letting outside inputs choose it for you. 😉
- Put your phone and other devices on Do Not Disturb to limit distractions.
- You can do your morning routine with a piece of paper or your favorite journal. I’ll also share my fave tools and resources on my blog.
- Play peaceful, energizing, or uplifting music to help set the tone.

Bottom line – try to be intentional with your morning routine for maximum effectiveness. It may sound silly, but it can make a big difference in your energy and mood.
And with that, let’s jump into your 15 Minute Morning Routine for Positive Energy with Gratitude, Journaling, Planning!
Step 1: Practice Gratitude (5 Minutes)
Practicing gratitude is one of the EASIEST things you can do to raise your vibration and attract positive outcomes. Even if you don’t write a thing down and just think about what you’re grateful for, practicing gratitude can help you with manifestation success and overall feeling good.
To-Do: Write down (or think about) 3 things you’re grateful for. If you have extra time, feel the feelings of what you wrote down and how amazing it is that you have those things present in your life.
Tip: Choose small and / or big things to be grateful for. It’s totally okay to repeat your gratitude items a little or a lot!

Step 2: Journal (5 Minutes)
The morning is the best time to ideate, be creative, process your thoughts, and / or get downloads from the Universe.
To-Do: Spend 5 minutes journaling. You can do stream of consciousness journaling (by writing down whatever comes to mind – literally) or by using journal prompts.

Step 3: Plan Your Day (5 Minutes)
Even on your busiest days, it’s important to spend a couple minutes seeing what’s ahead for the day. You need to know if you have any appointments, important meetings, or other key to-do’s. I love spending a few minutes planning to make sure that I make the most of my day and keep moving forward towards my goals and dreams.
To-Do: Plan the day ahead. Time permitting, see if you can look at your planner (whether you use a paper planner or digital planner), do a little prioritization by choosing your top goal of the day, and make a to-do list (with no more than 5 things on it).
Here are some tips for planning your day:

I learned about the 5 items on your to-do list tip years ago, and funny enough, it can be almost impossible to do more than 5 things on a given day. I do keep my personal / side hustle / etc. to-do separate from my work to-do. I manage my work to-do and schedule completely differently. Let me know if you want me to share how.
