Phew…still catching up here! I’ll try to make this one short, too.
7:30 am – Coffee – Content (5)
I just started today with the regular – cuppa joe – I believe FM Spring Blend.
8:30 am – Starbucks Monday + Simple Oats – First Signs of Feeling Full (6)
I realized this morning that I’m out of almost all my good oatmeal mixins. I just made some regular old fashioned oats with a sliced banana and a sprinkling of that FM Cherry Vanilla Granola to give the oats some crunch since I don’t have any nuts to put on top.
Since today was Starbucks Monday, I also got my other usual – Grande Vanilla Soy Latte.
1:30 pm – Sandwich + Tortilla Chips w Salsa – First Signs of Feeling Full (6)
I totally forgot my badge at home today and if you’ve ever worked in a building that requires a security badge to get through doors, you know how annoying that can be. Luckily, hubby was sweet enough to drop my badge off for me around lunchtime. Since I was already out of the building, I decided to pick up some tortilla chips and salsa. I got the mild salsa with extra cilantro and they even let me try their new salsa – a spicy concoction with a base of roasted tomatoes…how cool?
As for the sandwich, I pulled out an old office trick of mine – sandwich toasting. As you guys have probably noticed, I love sandwiches…they’re both hard and easy to switch up, though, flavor-wise, and sometimes you get tired of cold lunches, so I started toasting mine in a toaster oven. I think they taste so much better this way.
Today’s sandwich:
- Great Harvest Dakota bread
- honey smoked turkey breast
- muenster cheese
- TJ’s chipotle hummus
- green pepper
It was sooo good – esp all nice and toasty. Quizno’s has nothing on this! haha…jk
6:30 pm – Kate’s B-day Dinner – Full (7)
After work today, I drove straight to Kath’s house so we could meet up with Michelle and Amanda to celebrate a special occasion – Kate’s (Nate’s wife’s) birthday!
We went to a local wine bar that opened in March – D’Vine Wine Cafe .
The wine list was, of course, phenomenal.
I was mostly looking forward to trying one of the wine flights to really experiment – I got the Interesting Whites.
Yolumba Viongier, Licia Albarino, and Evolution – all delicious, though I did noticed some wines tasted better with certain foods than others. I thought the holders were really cute.
Check out the Wall O’ Wine!
We started with a spinach salad.
Cheese plate
Trio of hummus
Apple and fig
Lobster, crab, and corn fritters.
Seared scallops.
Sliders with bean salad.
Chips
I had a few plates of food that looked either like this…
…or this.
We, of course, got dessert, too…have to have dessert when you’re doing birthdays, no? This is the trio of cheesecakes – berry, vanilla, and chocolate.
Chocolate plate from Kilwins .
After dinner, we were totally inspired to head over to Kilwin’s to browse. I spotted the fudge and had to have some…
…not so much for me, but for hubby. I got a 1/2 slice of chocolate and 1/2 slice of chocolate peanut butter.
Hubby was a little disappointed I didn’t bring home leftovers, but happily dug into the fudge. I haven’t touched the stuff yet…I’m too full from dinner to even think about eating any!
Happy Birthday Kate!!!!! I hope you had a blast!
Speaking of the Kate + Nate family, have you checked out Nate’s new blog – The Blog Stalker – it’s hilar, so def check it out when you have a moment.
