We wandered around downtown Asheville to work off some of our huge breakfast and make space for more food. And we had a lot of great food ahead for us: noodles, chocolate, Italian, and champagne.
Right down the street from Dobra Tea is a cute candy shop, Laughing Mask Candies. They have some cool options in there, including some neat lavender mints and gum that Paola told us about.
After more shopping and lots of walking, we were ready to eat again. We visited Doc Chey’s Noodle House.

The day was drizzly and cold, so soup was calling my name. I considered going with one of the staple noodle soups on the menu, but after talking about the options with our waitress, I went for the special with crispy pork (from a local farm). It was amazing! I couldn’t believe how crispy the pork stayed despite being in a bowl of liquid broth. It definitely hit the spot.
We were having such a good time enjoying the many wonderful Asheville food options, all we could say to each other was “YOLO!”
Since it was just down the street, we did a quick trip to the French Broad Chocolate Lounge to get goodies, some for now and some for later. You’ll see my “later” towards the end of this post.
We wandered around the hilly roads of Asheville, stopping in shops here and there until we finally made our way to Asheville Bee Charmer in search of a unique item we’d seen at the B&B. Note the special glass honey dispenser displayed in the above photo. We first spotted this at the B&B. It caught AurĂ©lie’s eye first, and soon we all wanted one. The honey actually dispenses from the bottom of this glass tool. None of us had seen a honey dispenser quite like this before.
Of course, we had to try some samples while we were there. Who can resist? They had a fun bar area set up with jars and jars of honey galore.
One of my favorites was the Sourwood.
But the Bee Charmer had lots of other cool products too – lotions, lip gloss, perfume.
And we had one more stop to make before dinner at the champagne bookstore aka the Battery Park Book Exchange.
Inside, they not only had champagne, but a full coffee bar and thousands of used books. Another reason to love this place? It’s pet-friendly. Can’t wait to take Bailey here!
We actually tried going to another restaurant close to the B&B for a late dinner, but they had closed their kitchen. Luckily, the best Italian restaurant in town was still going strong.
We visited Vinnie’s Neighborhood Italian for another delicious meal.
We shared some garlic knots. They were sooooo good!
And for some reason, I wanted this classic for dinner – baked ziti. This was the best baked ziti I’ve ever had. Something about that tasty sauce and the generous topping of ooey-gooey melted cheese. It was the perfect comfort food for me to close out the rainy day.
Back at the B&B, I dug into my French Broad chocolate cake. This is one of my favorite things to get there. Yum!
And soon enough, it was time to say good night to everyone and hit the sack! We had one more amazing breakfast to look forward to.
