Early, Early Chocolate Date Oats

Man, what a whirlwind weekend?

I woke up about an hour or two earlier than normal to help see Sis off.

At first, she was just going to take some tea on the road, so I set out a travel mug and some tea options.

Then, she decided to stay, so I made her some more chocolate date oatmeal and a “sausage”.

We used the Anthro plates I love so much – a bowl for her and the mug for me. She stirred hers all up before I could snap a photo. I didn’t want to slow her down since she still had a long drive ahead (and a long work day).

I had a “sausage” and Spring Blend (re-stocked yesterday) with my chocolate date oatmeal. Such a great combo – I love all these flavors together. The savory, the sweet. Perfect-o!

While I feel totally groggy, and I’m kicking myself for staying soooo late last night trying to catch up on things, it feels GREAT to be up early! I have checked up on email, caught up on my Google reader and look! I even had time to blog!

I think I’ve been saying for awhile that I’d like to start going to bed earlier, but I really do mean it. I just need to come up with a plan. Perhaps a new challenge? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Which reminds me, I need to get some water, stat!

PS My BIG Announcement gets revealed later today! Facebook friends find out first, so why not go join my page? ๐Ÿ™‚

What are your tips for going to bed and waking up earlier?

  1. owwww I so can’t wait for your announcement! It is really nice to get up early and get the day rocking! I teach 5:45 AM pump on Mondays and Wednesdays and love feeling so accomplished by 7 am (usually I”m out of the shower and starting in on my first cup of joe :)). Have a great day

  2. Chocolate and dates make an awesome larabar so I see how they could make a kick butt oatmeal combination. I hope your sis has safe travels. Enjoy your day! xoxo

  3. I’m working on improving my sleep time also. I even blogged about a new resolve over the next couple weeks – I’ll update on that.
I think it’s all about being intentional and purposeful – realizing that sleep, as well as a healthy diet and exercise are the balance to whole wellness.

  4. I always give myself something to look forward to early in the AM… for me it’s a moment alone with the newspaper or a good book and a cup of coffee. Or I make ahead my pumpkin oatmeal (steel-cut) and the smell of the spices in the AM makes me excited!
